WWF-India Chennai Office is launching the Biodiversity Monitoring Project – Birds in Focus 2025, a three-month-long initiative inviting volunteers from Chennai to actively monitor and document bird species in their local environment. Volunteers will select an adopted site—a lake, park, college campus, or a wilderness area near their home—and conduct twice-monthly bird surveys from February to April 2025. Their observations will be recorded on eBird, contributing valuable data for bird conservation in Chennai. Additionally, volunteers will participate in the City Nature Challenge in April, a global citizen science event to document urban biodiversity. A special iNaturalist training will be included during the City Nature Challenge orientation to equip volunteers with biodiversity documentation skills. To prepare volunteers, two orientation sessions will be conducted: Bird Species Observation & eBird Training – Covering bird identification, field survey techniques, and eBird documen
