Project Description
WWF-India, MP & CG State Office is launching a volunteer-led initiative to conduct bird count across 10 wetlands in Madhya Pradesh to monitor migratory bird species. In December, volunteers and participants will carry out recce visits to selected wetlands to observe and record bird sightings on eBird. These observations will help identify potential sites and assess species populations. In January, the identified wetlands will be systematically surveyed by volunteers, and all data will be shared with the State Office. During the walks, volunteers will guide participants in bird identification, explain migration patterns, discuss threats faced by migratory species, and highlight the importance of their conservation. An online orientation session led by the Education Officer will be conducted to prepare volunteers for the activity. Participants who submit their checklists will contribute valuable data to support ongoing bird monitoring and conservation efforts.
